Effective date: 2026-10-30 · These terms govern your use of the ContextScribe web application and Chrome extension (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.
1. What the Service does
ContextScribe captures web pages, text and documents into per-project workspaces, uses AI to synthesize them into a persistent knowledge base, and provides an assistant, research agent, tasks, reminders and calendar features on top of that knowledge.
2. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your jurisdiction) to create an account, and you are responsible for your password and for activity under your account.
One person, one account. Keep your credentials private; contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Your content and rights
You own your content. Captures, notes, memories, research, tasks and exports remain yours. We claim no intellectual-property rights over them and only process them to provide the Service.
You are responsible for having the right to capture and store the material you add (respect site terms and copyright when capturing web pages).
We may store and process your content strictly as needed to run the Service, and we may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to infringe copyrights at scale, to store unlawful content, to harass anyone, or to reverse-engineer, overload or attack the Service.
Do not attempt to access other users’ data (including via share codes you were not given) or exceed the published quota/plan limits through automation.
5. AI features — important
AI-generated summaries, memories and answers are produced by statistical models and can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. The assistant cites your captured sources so you can verify statements — you are responsible for checking citations before relying on them for work, study, health, legal or financial decisions. ContextScribe is a research aid, not professional advice.
6. Plans, billing and refunds
The Service offers a free plan with published quotas and a paid subscription managed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Prices, features and renewal terms are shown at checkout.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time in Settings → Billing (the plan stays active until the end of the paid period).
Refunds for paid plans follow the refund policy shown on the checkout page and applicable consumer law; contact support and we will handle legitimate requests promptly.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but the Service is provided “as is” without warranty of uninterrupted operation. Features, quotas and the interface may evolve; material reductions to a paid plan’s core capability will be communicated in advance.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for data loss caused by your failure to keep exports/backups. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time (Settings → Account — all data is cascade-deleted). We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or threaten the Service’s security, with notice where practical.
10. The Chrome extension
The extension is distributed via the Chrome Web Store under its terms; the Chrome Web Store program policies also apply to your use of the extension. Updates are delivered through the store.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.
